After a nice, hot, sunny morning touring Graz that made us almost feel like we were on vacation the Pale Horse set off to leave Austria, drive through Slovenia, and land in Plitvicka Lakes, Croatia . There were some minor complications on the drive because the road names had been switched since our map was made, resulting in our drive being an hour or two longer than it needed to be. The upside was that we had the chance to warm up the tires on some beautiful bendy Croatian mountain roads. A great sleep in a local hostel prepared us for a big day of walking through the Plitvicka Lakes; a gorgeous valley of small lakes and ponds all filled with fish and connected by waterfalls and caves. Boardwalks suspended over the water wind their way through the valley giving views of all of the features. The other amazing aspect of the park was the number of people there to see it - probably 10 or 20 km of trails and they were all a solid line of people. We got off the trails and onto the road in the early afternoon, headed for a campground a couple hours away in a Croatian city called Zagreb.
